Malcesine
The town of Malcesine is tucked in at the base of the stunning Monte Baldo mountainside, right on the lakeside, situated near the top end of Lake Garda on its eastern shores. The views are spectacular from wherever you look!! The centre of town consists of a maze of winding cobbled streets leading from the picturesque harbour up to the romantic medieval Malcesine Castle, perched on a hillside cliff in the centre of town, overlooking all the roof tops and the crystal clear waters of Lake Garda!
Weddings in Malcesine can take place in the castle every day of the week (although it is a lot more expensive on a Sunday). There are 3 ceremony locations in the castle, two inside and one outside:
– The Casermetta (the little barracks) is a beautiful room with fabulous views over the lake which seats 40/50 people and ideal if you want to have total privacy during the wedding ceremony itself.
– The Sala Labbia is a larger room at the base of the castle’s tower and seats about 75 people with plenty of additional standing room too. It is a simple style room with wooden rafters and normally houses an art exhibition during the summer months. Again, ideal if you want total privacy.
– The Rivellino Terrace is the outdoor location within the castle grounds. It has the most stunning, breathtaking views of both the lake and all the rooftops of Malcesine. It seats about 80 people with standing room for more.
The Captain’s Palace.
Weddings in Malcesine can also take place in the Captain’s Palace, down by the lakeshore, just off the main harbour, in the centre of town. It has been renovated in recent years to its original elegance. The large impressive upstairs wedding hall in this building is reached by an ancient stone stairway and beautifully decorated with frescoes dating from the 15th century and impressive antique chandeliers. High ceilings and balcony windows look over the Palace’s intimate courtyard garden onto the lake, making this majestic setting both romantic and magical. There is seating for 99 people.
